Due to sprawl, Collin County is a lot less farm-y than it used to be. If you want to capture the quintessential Christmas tree farm experience, you have to look a little further out. Nothing too far, of course!
Here’s our list of the places to cut your own tree (or find the perfect pre-cut beauty) while enjoying wholesome farm vibes and a cup of hot cider. Click on each city to see how far it is from your house.
Reminder: No public activities can take place without a commitment to personal responsibility. Mask up, social distance, and stay home if you’re sick or have been exposed to COVID. Because everything is subject to change, we highly recommend double checking with venues for last-minute cancellations.
If you plan to go to any of these after the second weekend in December, I would call to check their tree inventory levels first.
KaJin Farms :: Caddo Mills :: November 27 until sold out :: Cut your own tree or choose a North Carolina-grown pre-cut Fraser fir. You can spend the afternoon here: take a hayride, visit Lady (the mini horse) and Elvis Piggly (the mini pig), shop the store, ride the mini train, and bring a picnic lunch or order something from the outdoor grill.
Yesterland Farm :: Canton :: November 29 – December 15 :: Since Canton is a bit of a drive, you’ll want to spend the whole day here. Choose from flocked or pre-harvested trees. Afterwards, there’s Christmas Playland with rides, games, and activities. Christmas Playland and Santa photos are available weekends only. 11am-5pm. See link to purchase admission tickets and activity passes.
Elves Farm :: Denison :: November 27 – December 24 (or until sold out) :: Head north to Denison to cut your own tree or choose one of the fresh, pre-cut options. Have some free cider and enjoy hayrides, mazes, a farm zoo, arts and crafts, and country air. Wreaths and flocked trees also available. Here’s more info on their tree types and pricing. Open daily.
Flower Mound Christmas Tree Farm :: Flower Mound :: November 27 until sold out :: Flower Mound boasts full-bodied premium trees, half a dozen varieties of all sizes, including hard-to-find 10-16 ft. trees. They also do flocking and have lots of wreaths and garlands. Bounce houses, kids’ activities, and Santa (on select days) complete the experience. I’ve noticed slightly worse reviews in recent years, mostly related to pricing, so be advised!
Kadee Farm :: Greenville :: November 20-22, 27 – December 24 :: Out east in Greenville, Kadee Farm gives you the option to cut your own tree or choose from imported varieties. There’s a pricing guide on their site for the various varieties/sizes. In addition to trees, they have a classic farm atmosphere with activities like hay rides, maze, tree swing, farm zoo, and more. Open daily.
