A Guide to Christmas Tree Farms In & Around Collin County

Due to sprawl, Collin County is a little less farm-y than it used to be. To capture the quintessential Christmas tree farm experience, you have to look a little further out. Nothing too far, of course!

Here’s our list of the places to cut your own tree (or find the perfect pre-cut beauty) while enjoying wholesome farm vibes and a cup of hot cider. Click on each city link to see how far it is from your house.

If you plan to go to any of these after the second weekend in December, I would call to check their tree inventory levels first.

Sunset Hill Tree Farm :: Alvarado :: November 26, 2021, until Sold Out

Open the Friday after Thanksgiving, and then weekends only. Cut your own or choose a pre-cut tree from North Carolina. The cut-your-own trees usually sell out the first weekend, so make plans early. Farm hours: 9am-5pm. November 27 is their Olde Tyme Christmas event with live music, a camp fire, a bounce house, kids horse rides, kiddie train, and a farm zoo.

KaJin Farms :: Caddo Mills :: November 26, 2021, until Sold Out

Cut your own tree or choose a North Carolina-grown, pre-cut Fraser fir. You can spend the afternoon here: take a hayride, visit Lady (the mini horse) and Elvis Piggly (the mini pig), shop the store, ride the mini train, and bring a picnic lunch or order something from the outdoor grill. Farm hours: Friday-Sunday: 9am-5pm. Tuesday-Thursday: 3-5pm. Have breakfast with The Grinch on December 4 & 5, children: $3, adults: $5.

Yesterland Farm :: Canton :: November 26 to December 12, 2021

Since Canton is a bit of a drive, you’ll want to spend the whole day here. Choose from flocked or pre-harvested trees. Afterwards, head to the Christmas Carnival (select weekends from 11am-5pm) for rides, games, and activities. See link to purchase admission tickets and activity passes.

Elves Farm :: Denison :: November 26 to December 24, 2021 (or until Sold Out)

Head north to Denison to cut your own tree or choose one of the fresh, pre-cut options. Have some free cider and enjoy hayrides, mazes, a farm zoo, arts and crafts, and country air. Wreaths and flocked trees also available. Here’s more info on their tree types and pricing.

Flower Mound Christmas Tree Farm :: Flower Mound :: November 26 until Sold Out

Flower Mound boasts full-bodied premium trees, half a dozen varieties of all sizes, including hard-to-find 10-16 ft. trees. They also do flocking and have lots of wreaths and garlands. Bounce houses, kids’ activities, and Santa (on select days) complete the experience. After slightly worse reviews in recent years, mostly related to pricing, they now boast guaranteed “best prices in the state” on their site.

Kadee Farm :: Greenville:: November 26 to December 12, 2021 (or until Sold Out)

Out east in Greenville, Kadee Farm gives you the option to cut your own tree or choose from imported varieties. In addition to trees, they have a classic farm atmosphere with activities like hay rides, maze, tree swing, farm zoo, and more. Open daily.

“Real-tree” families: Where do you get Christmas trees?

Katie grew up in Dallas and then spent 10 post-college years in Austin, where she and her husband Mick welcomed a daughter and son (in 2011 and 2013). They've since moved to Fort Worth and find it to be quite fun and a great place for kids. Katie is horrible at social media but secretly likes Twitter best. Favorite uses for her phone: reading library books and listening to comedy podcasts. Least favorite uses: making and receiving calls. If you've seen Death Becomes Her or Big Business more than once, you'll be best friends.
