Story Times for Kids in Collin County

One thing in life is constant — the reliability of a good book. Whether you dive in and read yourself or attend story times, a captivating story is a solid go-to activity.

Read below for our list of “Story Times for Kids in Collin County.” Storytelling is weatherproof, so no matter if it’s too hot or cold, a good story is always available. Not to mention attending an event like this is a great opportunity for socialization and exploration! Bonus :: many story times offer craft time, too.

The Allen library has a little book store and coffee shop at the front of the building. It’s a fun building to visit. All story times require tickets, and those are available starting a half hour before the events. It has special family events, as well as programs for elementary and high school students. Check out its special events here.

  • Pajama story time :: three years and older :: Mondays at 6:30 p.m.
  • Infant baby and me :: zero to 12 months :: Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m.
  • Preschool :: three years and older :: Wednesdays at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m.
  • Toddlers :: one to two years :: Thursdays at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m.

Celina libraries’ events vary regularly. They often have Lego events and Pokémon trading events, as well as a weekly teen and tween event. Check out the full calendar at the bottom of the library page here.

  • Infant story time :: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
  • Story time :: Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
  • Teens and tweens gaming :: Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

The Frisco Library is so fun to visit. Each story time has multiple time options. Tickets are required and are available starting an hour before the event. There is plenty to do at the library, including saying hello to a giant dinosaur skeleton, a fun play area intended for zero to five years  olds, and a small friends of the library book sale room. Not only that, but they have weekly events for elementary students, teens, and adults. The events and schedules for elementary, teen, and adult events vary but are frequent!   • Baby lap sit :: Infants :: Wednesdays at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.
  • Over the summers they have WOW Wednesday story time events throughout the day for elementary students

McKinney public libraries have a lot of programs available for children of all ages. They have story times and friendly children’s areas at both locations. The calendar is for both locations, so make sure you are registering for the correct location. You can register for the programs directly online through the calendar right here

John and Judy Gay Library Story Times

  • Mad science :: kindergarten through fifth grades :: Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m.
  • Anime club :: sixth through twelfth grades :: Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m.
  • Multilingual preschool :: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
  • So you think you can draw :: Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m.
  • PJs and picture books :: All ages :: Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

Roy and Helen Hall Library Story Times

  • Preschool story time :: Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m.
  • Walkers and wobblers :: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
  • LEGO :: All ages :: Mondays at 11:30 a.m.
  • Blackout poetry :: sixth through twelfth grades :: Mondays at 5:00 p.m.
  • Mad science :: kindergarten through fifth grades :: Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m.

Melissa has a fairly new library in a beautiful location. It’s one of the smaller libraries in the area, but it does have programming for kids. The Melissa library offers sensory stations on Friday as well. It also has a homeschool story time. Check out the full calendar here. Its schedule varies, but they update the Facebook page with the new schedules.

Because there are multiple Plano libraries, there are story times throughout the entire week for infants through preschool-aged kiddos. It also have events for elementary students throughout the week, but there is a consistent one on Sundays. Check out the current calendar here.

Davis Library

  • Toddler time :: Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m.
  • Family story time :: zero to five years old :: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.

Haggard Library 

  • Rhyme time :: zero to 24 months :: Mondays and Fridays at 10:00 a.m.
  • Toddler time :: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.
  • Family story time :: zero to five years old :: Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
  • Preschool story time :: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.

Harrington Library

  • Rhyme time :: zero to 24 months :: Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.
  • Toddler time :: Monday at 10:30 and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.
  • Preschool story time :: Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m.

Parr Library

Schimelpfenig Library 

  • Rhyme time :: zero to 24 months :: Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and Fridays at 9:30 a.m.
  • Toddler time :: Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
  • Preschool story time :: Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.

The Lois Nelson public library has a weekly story time that includes all preschool ages. You can find updates on the website

Prosper Library Story Times

The Prosper library offers something every day for families. The fall semester does not start until after Labor Day. They post monthly calendars on its page. You can find more information on the Prosper library here.

The Smith Public Library in Wylie is a beautiful building. It has regular, bi-lingual story time. They have a really fun and spacious children’s space. This is on the edge of the county, but it is a fun option for Collin County library story times. Check out its story time page here.

  • Sensory :: pre-k to second grade:: First Saturdays of the month at 10:15 a.m.
