A Collin County Guide to Holiday Performances & Productions

There’s something extra special about attending live holiday performances and productions, don’t you think? We used to go to the Dallas Theater Center production of A Christmas Carol every year when I was a kid, and I look back on it so fondly. Use this list to start a new tradition with your family!

Choose an afternoon or evening showtime for this PDT Dance Arts production and holiday family tradition at the Eisemann Center. Tickets from $14.


November 26 – 27 & December 10 – 11
A Christmas Carol
Historic Downtown McKinney

McKinney Repertory Theatre presents its annual holiday production of a Christmas classic – six shows over two weekends. All tickets for these one-hour shows will be general admission, meaning no assigned seats. Note: The first weekend will be during the Home for the Holidays McKinney Christmas Festival, so it might be a little busier. Afternoon and evening showtimes available. Tickets from $8.

A Christmas Story
Wylie

Wylie Acting Group presents a stage version of the classic holiday film. This is youth theater, so the cast is comprised of kids ages eight to 18. Tickets are $15, general admission.

5th Annual Christmas Concert
McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra

The McKinney Philharmonic performs your favorite Christmas tunes with new arrangements (think jazz, rock, classical, Celtic, and folk styles). It will fill your hearts with joy! Tickets from $20.


December 7 – 18
Scrooge!: The Musical
North Texas Performing Arts | Plano

This fast-paced, full-length live musical production features pre-show Christmas carols and more. Critically acclaimed and loved by all! Recommended for ages five and up. Tickets $20 general, $30 premium.

NTPA will offer its “Gift to the Community” performance for veterans and underprivileged and disadvantaged children, families, and groups by offering two special complimentary shows. See link for details on attending.


December 8 – 11
Elf: The Musical
North Texas Performing Arts | Plano

As the name suggests, this is a musical comedy version of Buddy’s the elf’s journey to discover his true identity. Suitable for all ages. Afternoon and evening showtimes available. Tickets from $12.

The Gift of Christmas
Prestonwood Baptist Church | Plano

A 100-minute holiday extravaganza at Prestonwood Baptist Church with an orchestra, nearly 1,000-member cast and choir, living nativity, flying angels, massive LED video wall, and more. December 2 – 18
It’s a Wonderful Life
Art Centre Theatre | Plano

America’s favorite holiday classic re-enacted as if it’s on a 1940s radio station. Suitable for the whole family. Tickets are $15.

Legacy of Harmony Christmas Show
Plano

This premier community chorus will warm your heart with harmonies and styles ranging from barbershop to gospel to doo-wop. The show will be at St. Mark Catholic School. Tickets $20.

The Nutcracker
Frisco Ballet

The Frisco Ballet will perform its version of the beloved Christmas classic at Lebanon Trail High School. Two shows this year — 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $19 per person.

Christmas from the Sanctuary
The Sanctuary | McKinney

Head to The Sanctuary Music & Events Center for a holiday concert for the whole family. There will be lots of musical guests as well as staff and students from The Guitar Sanctuary family. Show begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets from $15.


December 17 – 18
Home for the Holidays
Plano Symphony Orchestra

Featuring seasonal favorites, comedic touches, the ever-popular audience sing-along, and even a few surprises! Shows will be at Frisco High School and Christ United Methodist Church. Tickets from $12 to $78, depending on the venue and seat location.


December 20 – 21
The Nutcracker
Eismann Center | Richardson

Collin County Ballet Theater takes the stage at the Eisemann Center this Tuesday and Wednesday night. Tickets from $32.


December 23
A Very Eclectic Christmas
Courtyard Theater | Plano

The traveling Lightwire Theater brings its electroluminescent style to the Courtyard Theater with a show for all ages. It’s a captivating adventure story of family, friendship, and hope set to timeless holiday hits. Two shows available — 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. Tickets from $35.
