Barbies :: Old-School Pretend Play For the Win!

What toy was your childhood favorite? Something you play with for hours on end? For me, it was Barbies! I loved to dress them up and do their hair. They would go on fabulous trips, get married, rock their little babies, go to school…Nothing bad ever happened in Barbie world!

I recently found my old Barbies and was more than excited to share these with my two little girls (2.5 and almost 5). The oldest was so impressed with all the shimmer and jewelry my 80’s Barbies had. Talk about eye shadow! And my goodness, what tiny waists. A few were missing heads (oops), but for the most part, these dolls have lasted nearly 30 years boxed up.

I have to say, it’s been SO much fun watching my girls enjoy them. No screens, no fighting, just old-school pretend Barbie play. It was good for my soul and theirs, too. The best part was that these Barbies were stored in my Trolls box: remember those gem in the belly Trolls? Perfect way for my Barbies to be stored.

Missy lives in Frisco with her concert-crazy husband, Adam, and two “couldn’t be more different” daughters, Raegan (6) and Maddie (4). She met Adam while living in Australia, and often jokes she brought him home as a souvenir. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, she will proudly yell, “Go Pokes” across a store or restaurant when she sees a fellow fan! When she isn’t busy taking her girls to dance or gymnastics, you can find Missy crafting, talking to her three kitties, or wandering Target while sipping an iced coffee.
