Make it the Best Summer Ever with Homemade Frozen Treats

It’s summertime! When it comes to staying cool, I like to make it fun for the kids and me. Instead of buying frozen snacks, we make our own. I try to use ingredients I already have in the kitchen, whip something up, and and pop it in the freezer for a quick cool treat. It can also be a fun activity for the kids to help make them and they can pick the flavor or fruit used in the recipe.

Kid-Approved Frozen Treats

Frozen Jello Fruit Popsicles

These Jello popsicles are easy to make, and they are easy to eat because they DON’T MELT. That’s right. The gelatin keeps them solid for a fun frozen treat you can chew rather than just lick, and there’s no drip. My daughter rode around on her scooter for 20 minutes slowly licking her popsicle without it even melting on her clothes or the floor. WIN! You can use any flavor of Jello and add any fruit. Find recipes for other fun popsicles here.

Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Bananas

This frozen banana treat is a good snack when you need to refuel. The chocolate creates a hard shell around the banana and adds extra crunch. It’s easy to make and eat with minimal melting. Use any nut for garnish. I used cashews for mine. Yum!

Frozen Yogurt Bites

There are many ways to make these frozen yogurt bites. You can make them in a variety of flavors and add any kind of fruit. They’re quick, easy, and fun to eat!

Mom-Approved Frozen Treats

Mamas, it’s also time to enjoy our own frozen treats! Whether you’re lounging by the pool or grilling with friends, these are easy-to-make drinks that cool things down.

Frosé

This tasty treat takes a little prep but it’s worth it! It’s a fun twist on a typical glass of wine and you can customize your flavors. Frosé can be swirled with lemon or strawberries, or even a pineapple liqueur to make it really yummy. You can freeze it beforehand and serve any time.

Frozen Peach Lemonade

This peach lemonade is cool and refreshing, and only calls for a few ingredients. You can whip it up in the blender within minutes and enjoy.

Vodka Ice Pops

Every mama deserves a special ice pop to help beat the heat. If you want a pre-made treat, these ice pops are great for on-the-go: the park, the pool, sports events. Just throw them into the cooler and take them along with you. They come in four yummy flavors and are only 100 calories each. You can’t beat that! You can purchase them at Costco (membership required), BevMo, or other local liquor stores.
