Why We Chose to Play with i9 Sports

i9 Sports is a wonderful place to begin your child’s sports journey. We went into team sports not really knowing what we were doing. We just knew that we had a child whom we wanted to experience all the things sports cultivates—being on a team, how to safely keep score, and even how to share a ball. We hoped to find a sport that he either really enjoyed or was naturally skilled at. We didn’t really care what it was, we just wanted him to be happy, make friends, and learn some skills along the way.

I’m thankful we found i9 Sports because within a year, because we got to experience basketball, T-ball, and soccer. As a mother of two small children, my most favorite part of the i9 Sports structure is the time commitment. Practices are held right before a short game, which meant less of a time commitment overall.

My husband has coached with i9 Sports twice and both times has had a wonderful experience with the organization and the parents. Everyone comes together with one goal—to have fun in sports.

What we love most is that i9 Sports is not just another rec league…they have a laser sharp focus on the balance between fun, safety, convenience, and healthy competition.

Each week, the coaches are given a lesson plan that include fun warm ups and drills. The coaches are also given a sportsmanship quality and a medal that is awarded to a special team member at the end of the game. At the end of the season, every child will have received a medal for a quality they embodied during that game or practice.

My son broke his tibia on the playground at school, smack dab in the middle of his second season with i9 T-ball. My husband was their coach. Both of them still wanted to be at every practice and every game for the remaining weeks. It was a wonderful experience to see the kiddos getting an achievement medal at the end of each game. It was especially heartwarming to see my son receive the dedication medal, sitting on the sidelines in a hard cast and a cool wrap in the hot Texas summer. I will carry that memory with me forever. He’s long since healed but that i9 medal proudly hangs in his bedroom to this day.

If you’re looking for a league grounded in fun and kindness with a goal to build your child’s self esteem, then i9 is for you! Friendly i9 Sports staff always greeted us upon arrival and games were always conveniently located within 15 minutes or less of our home.

i9 Sports offered this winter are flag football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and more. They also provide options via after-school clinics with professional coaches, most of whom are PE teachers and college students. Learn more now!
