The Coloring Table:: An Activity Everyone Enjoys

Collin County Moms Blog was provided an opportunity to try The Coloring Table in order to be able to write this review. All opinions are 100% my own.

We’ve all been there before: scrambling to get everything (and everyone) ready before our guests arrive, prepping food, adding finishing touches, etc.  And the kids? Running wild, because we are busy focused on our hosting duties.  Or, let’s just say, guests have already arrived and while we want to socialize for a bit with the grown ups in the house we have to find a place for the littles to gather and have fun too.  But where? You think to yourself, let’s corral them in one of the kids’ rooms or the game room.  And then there are those other times we are super proud of ourselves because we actually found some cute crafts to keep the kids busy, only to find that this required adult supervision for things such as cutting, gluing and making the obligatory mess (insert face palm emoji here!).

I like to think of myself as a creative momma.  I’m guilty of pinning a thousand and two crafts that my kids could be doing while I cook Thanksgiving dinner (in our case lunch).  And I revert to the usual, “go play in your rooms guys!”

Who else? (Please tell me everyone has this problem.)

Does it have to be this way?

No.  Not after discovering a game changer. Game changer, I tell you!

I was recently introduced to The Coloring Table and the only words that came to mind were:

MOM WIN!

thecoloringtable_3-1-of-1The Coloring Table is a beautiful fabric tablecloth with a durable, laminate backing meant to be colored on with fabric markers or washable markers.  Since I was going to be taking my kids (ages 9, 4 and 10 months old) to a game watching get-together at my parents house, I thought it was the perfect time to bring out The Coloring Table tablecloth and see just how well it fared with my active older boys while the game was on.  Would they actually stay busy enough to not be at each others throats? Would they like it?

Since the weather was changing (anything below 70 degrees warrants a change in the weather in Texas- just saying!) I promised the boys some hot chocolate with extra marshmallows to get in the spirit of the fast-approaching holidays.  They were ALL ABOUT THAT!

thecoloringtable_-1-of-1Once I saw how my 4-yr-old was coloring I got a little worried.  How many moms have seen the constant, overlapping coloring of their littles and thought, “that’s going to go right through that?” To my happy surprise The Coloring Table has a durable, laminate backing that prevents any bleed through.  Using washable markers like Crayola Ultra Clean Washable markers or Ultra Clean Washable crayons will allow you to use this tablecloth again and again.

(To create a lasting memory, Crayola Fabric Markers are highly recommended. Simply use, wash, and follow instructions on the packaging.)

thecoloringtable_2-1-of-1With the approaching holiday parties, I’m choosing this as my go-to activity.  But I can also see myself using fabric markers to make this a lasting memory tablecloth for our family and marking the date and their ages because I love traditions like that.

While they worked on coloring (quietly- that’s an important thing to mention), mom, dad and grandparents were able to finish cooking and watch the game on TV. My boys were content making a special tablecloth that we’ll be enjoying soon.  I might add that I got in on the coloring too.  Coloring has a therapeutic factor and it was calming getting to share that time with my boys.  Everyone was happy.  Everyone was having fun!

If you’re looking for the perfect way to keep your kiddos entertained throughout the holiday season, this is the PERFECT Christmas present as well as the PERFECT Christmas party activity for all ages to enjoy.
