Up Your Fashion Game Without Leaving Your House—The Best Clothing Subscription Boxes

As a busy mother who also works, I have little time to shop for myself these days. I tried shopping online with the brands I love, but it doesn’t always work out. I usually end up returning most of what I buy because it doesn’t fit right or looks different in person. I need the shopping experience to come to me, and luckily there are companies that can do this. I mean, who doesn’t want their own personal stylist in their own home? Clothing subscription boxes are a dream come true!

Stitch Fix

I first tried Stitch Fix after having my second baby when my wardrobe was lacking. I didn’t wear most of the clothes in my closet, and they needed a serious update. The clothing subscription box service, Stitch Fix, is easy to set up, and the start-up cost is minimal. The style fee for each box is $15, and this can go towards your final purchase. I created my profile online and outlined all of my preferences. They ask for specifics on favorite colors, sizes, designs, styles, and how much you want to spend. They can also send shoes, undergarments, and jewelry, if desired. There is a section where you can even write to your stylist and describe what you’re looking for.

Initially, I wanted outfits for daily wear that were easy to move around in and washable. As a mother, I need easy fashion! After a few months, I needed more date night clothes and wrote this in the note section for my stylist. I also needed them sooner than later (my subscription was monthly) and I was able to easily move up the date for my next shipment. There are options to get boxes 2 or more times a month, and you can delay or cancel anytime.

So how does it work? They send you a cute little box with five items, and you have three days to decide what you want to keep. They make it super easy and simple to make returns and exchanges by including a return shipping bag, and you can check out online. They were also very accommodating when I requested an exchange for my new pants that stretched after wearing them. I thought a smaller size would be best and they allowed me to return the original pair after getting the new ones in the mail a few days later.

Front Door Fashion

I also tried Front Door Fashion for more high-end clothing and complete outfits. It was easy to sign up online and provide specifics about my preferences. This popular clothing subscription box typically send five outfits with a couple pieces of jewelry and shoe suggestions. You have five business days to make a decision, and returns are easy with shipping labels included. It was like a luxury shopping experience in my own home! The communication with my stylist was easy and she was very responsive. I got my box within two days of requesting it, and the online checkout process was quick.

Front Door Fashion also offers a personalized shopping experience in person. There is no base fee and they are located in the Design District of Dallas, so it’s easy, local fun. It’s just like shopping in the stores with no extra cost, and it’s completely personalized. They have private changing rooms with couches that make it a comfortable experience. My stylist actually texted me before the appointment asking about specifics on what I was looking for. It was nice to have a conversation beforehand, and text was the perfect mode for me as a busy mom. I could think about what I wanted to say, and even share more later as I thought more about it. At the fitting, my stylist was very welcoming and personable.

I tried on all the clothes chosen for me and I was able to give immediate feedback. It was nice to stay in my fitting room and find other sizes or items without wandering back through a store. The whole process lasted about an hour, which is much better than a whole day of wandering through the mall! After purchasing my items, I thought more about a dress I didn’t get but had wanted, so I texted my stylist. She replied quickly with the price so I could make a decision. Now that’s service!
