In our financial health series, we want to put a spotlight on both readers and writers for Collin County Moms. This financial health spotlight is on Kara, a Collin County mom & writer, who is on her debt-free journey and is close to financial freedom! Read on to learn about her financial wellness journey!

Kara Robinson
Kara was born in Florida, lived in Washington State and California as a Navy brat, and then settled in Jacksonville, Florida. That was until work moved her to Texas. Her (then) boyfriend followed her out, and there they got engaged, married, and welcomed their son, Mark, in 2016. Then Kara was a surrogate and welcomed her first surro-baby in September 2019 and second in April 2021. Her favorite hobbies including finding adventures (aka free things to do) on weekends with her family around town, spending time at her parents in Oklahoma, fitness and working towards paying off their debt.   3. I struggle with the balance between sacrifice and wanting to make memories while my 2 kids are young.

  4. The sacrifice will be well worth it. So amazing that you’re approaching the final 1/4 of the payoff. Think of it as the last lap of the mile run in gym class- you’ve worked so hard, you’re tired, but you can SEE the finish line!!

  5. I think describing paying debt as a slap in the face is so accurate! We live and we learn I guess, but ouch.
