Mom Must Try: The Barre Code Plano

This post has NOT been sponsored by The Barre Code. The following content and opinions are 100% derived from my own experience.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be publishing a variety of health and fitness-related posts meant to guide, inspire, and motivate you on your journey. We hope these will be a valuable resource for a moms; whether you’re still going strong since January 1st OR possibly need to be re-motivated.

So, I tried something new today and I want every Collin County mom who needs to do something for themselves to try it, too! I took some “me” time and went to The Barre Code in Plano. I’ve been hearing about barre classes for a few years now but I wasn’t entirely sure what it was. Turns out, it’s an amazing, versatile workout which I would describe as graceful strength training combined with intermittent restoration. The instructor, Courtney, was as sweet as can be, providing motivation, encouragement, and hands on-assistance with movements.

I could tell that a majority of the women in the class had been doing it for awhile or were at least more fitness savvy and agile than me. However, not once did I feel intimidated or overwhelmed. If I needed to take a rest, I rested; if I felt like challenging myself, I went for it. The atmosphere was uplifting, not judgmental, and for the first time in a while, I felt as if I was solely focusing on myself and clearing my mind of all excess noise.

The Barre Code in Plano is a locally owned barre studio that attracts a variety of women from all over Collin County. The owner, Julie, was warm, welcoming, and took the time to show me everything prior to starting class and even carved out the perfect spot for me within the studio.

One of the best things about classes at Barre Code is that, no matter what your schedule, you should be able to find time for a class. Early morning, after work, weekends, you name it. I attended their Lunch and Burn class which is perfectly placed midday and formulated so you get an amazing workout that is challenging, invigorating, and doesn’t result in the need for an immediate shower. You can easily go right back to work or wherever your afternoon takes you without feeling “gross.”

Barre Code offers workouts for all fitness levels, ages, and genders (bring your hubby! It’s not just for women!). If you have any questions about which class is right for you, give Julie a call. That’s right, you won’t be directed to some corporate office in New York. Julie herself will answer the phone and be your personal resource for an amazing experience.

Amanda Krahel
Amanda was born and raised in San Diego, California. In 2016, she and her family packed up and took the 1,500 mile trek to north Texas, happily settling in Collin County. Amanda was a hairstylist in California, but is currently taking a break from the world of beauty to care for two young beauties of her own. When she’s not chasing after her kids, sprinting through the neighborhood with her high energy dogs, or vacuuming her house like a mad woman, Amanda enjoys exploring Texas, shopping, cooking, and catching up on her favorite television shows. Although she sometimes misses the palm trees and salty ocean breeze, she is proud and excited to call Texas home. Stay tuned for more on her adventures living the SAHM life in Collin County.
