Mom Guide: Which Type Of Workout Gal Are You?

From Class Pass to your neighborhood rec center, there is an overwhelming amount of choices when it comes to finding a fitness class. Gone are the days when your only options were weightlifting gyms or a 24-Hour Fitness. From app-based personal trainer programs to equipment that comes with an instructor included, you don’t even have to leave your home for a good workout.

In Collin County alone you can find a gym, specialty workout studio, or rec center on every corner. But which option is the best one for you? Let’s find out the type of workout gal you are!

Flexible Felicity

You are someone that likes options when it comes to class times and the types of workouts you have access too. You may not be sure yet what type of workout classes you enjoy the most so you don’t want to be locked into one gym. It’s time to welcome ClassPass into your life. ClassPass is a monthly membership not to one gym, but to a platform that allows you access to a wide variety of workout classes. From yoga to barre to kickboxing, you are in the driver’s seat deciding what type of workout you are in the mood for and what time would work best for your schedule.

Their app makes it convenient to quickly book a class and will have you excited to potentially try a class you might not have tried before. Plus, based on how much you plan to work out each month, you can buy the specific monthly plan that is right for you so you don’t have to be afraid of the commitment. Some of the most unique Class Pass classes in Collin County are:

You probably have heard the names Soul Cycle and Bar Method as right now these types of studios are all the rage. Both of these fall in the category of specialty workout studios that typically focus on a core structure. For example, Soul Cycle is designed for someone who wants to focus on getting their workout through indoor cycling while Bar Method follows ballet type training to offer a full-body workout.  The unique angle about these types of studios is also the community that they bring with it. With fitness classes being on the smaller side, you are likely to find a class buddy in no time. With this option of fitness class, expect to pay a little bit more, but these studios offer a great environment to dive deeper into the types of workouts you already enjoy. Some of my favorites in Collin County include:

Looking for an option that caters to not only you but the entire family while not breaking the bank? Then try your local recreation center. This is a great option if you want amenities that the entire family can enjoy, from child care, pools, workout classes, and a wide variety of gym equipment. Plus, they typically cost about half of what a full-service gym would cost a month. Additional offerings you will typically find at a community rec center include:

    • Youth programming
    • Family Events, such as movie at the pool nights
    • Raquetball and tennis courts

Amenities Amanda

If you are looking for a gym that offers all the amenities of a rec center, but includes special add ons such as a smoothie bar, spa, and pilates studio, then a health club is your answer. These all-in-one clubs offer everything you need and typically are more high end with a locker room and equipment. This is one of the pricier workout options, but you get what you pay for, which typically includes more services, amazing fitness classes and luxe amenities. Some great options in Collin County:

Your schedule varies from day to day due to work, kids, you name it, so it’s hard to commit going to a physical location to work out. If you have a hard time predicting when you will have “you” time, then a home-based workout option might be the answer. App-based workout programs let you choose the style of workout you hope to accomplish in the comfort of your own home without needing hardly any type of fitness equipment. Your personal trainer will guide you from your phone to help you focus on areas from cardio to strength training. This is a great cost-effective option that lets you set your workout schedule with minimal investment. Some of my favorite app-based workout options are:

Another great option for a home-based fitness class is bringing the gym to your home. From Peleton bikes to treadmills, you can create your own fitness area in the comfort of your own home. While this option sounds great, you want to make sure that you will take the time to use it as this option does require the full investment upfront.

Now that you know what type of workout environment best fits your needs—and the type of workout gal that you are—it’s time to feel the burn and get to it! Another perk of working out? Cute gear.

If all else fails and none of the above fits where you are in your season of life, then lace up the tennis shoes and use the wonderful parks and trails in Collin County to get fresh air AND your heart rate going.
