Dear Costco, Thanks For Moving In

I love Costco. It’s a love I never knew I needed. I had a Costco membership a couple years ago, and I used it less than five times. How sad is that? I had no idea what I was missing. Now that Costco has moved in right down the street from me, my almost 3-year-old and I are there at least once a week. It’s quickly becoming our favorite place to go if we just need to get out of the house. That may be sad, or it may be awesome. I haven’t decided yet. I keep seeing posts in the mom groups on Facebook seeking recommendations on what to buy at Costco, so I made a list of some of my favorites!

1. Gas

Honestly, the setup of the gas station is even more exciting to me than the huge discount on gas prices. Everyone enters through one side of the station and exits out the opposite side. You don’t have to drive around in circles because all the cars are facing opposite directions causing a complete madhouse. It’s organized and efficient. Oh, and it’s 15–20 cents cheaper than anywhere else.

2. Chicken

I’ve found several great ways to buy chicken at Costco. From the $4.99 rotisserie chicken to the individually packaged chicken breasts at $2/lb., you can’t go wrong. I like to grab a rotisserie chicken and use half the meat that day and half the meat the next day in a different meal. Saves me from having to cook the meat and also saves me from handling raw chicken.

3. Anything Kirkland brand

Seriously, Costco’s Kirkland brand is God’s gift to wholesale shoppers. I always look for the Kirkland brand in whatever items I’m buying, and it saves me anywhere from 5% to 50%! My most exciting purchases so far have been the laundry soap pods and kid’s applesauce pouches. Both of those have been a hit for us.

4. Organic produce

There are so many different options when it comes to organic produce at Costco. It’s a great one-stop shop for everything we need.

5. Baked goods

Costco’s bakery items are SO GOOD. I’ve sampled their cheesecake on multiple occasions and purchased their cookies more times than I’d like to admit. Their sheet cakes are perfect for birthday parties and the bread makes a great addition to any meal.

6. Free samples

Our true favorite thing about Costco is all the samples. I’ve purchased several items I wouldn’t have otherwise noticed because they were handing out samples. My advice to you is, try everything!

Moral of the story: I’m glad you’re here, Costco. Thanks for all the snacks.
